Seriously...why do we care?

Go to your local newsagents and look at the magazines. Most of them are what we call 'gossip magazines' or 'celebrity news'.
Everytime i go to get my Guardian or whatever and i look at them i think to myself, 'who actually buys these? Who goes home and actually READS this crap?'
Apparently, a lot of people do. And not only that, they ENJOY it. They think its INTERESTING.

ARE THEY FOR REAL?

Why do we care what so called 'celebrtities' do every minute of the day?

I think i once saw an article about Britney Spears. Can anyone guess what she'd done? Killed over one thousand people in Gaza? Murdered hundreds in Iraq?
hmm..no.
she bought a coffee.
Yes, i know, OMG, right?

Am i the only one shaking my head and what the hell-ing?
Who cares if she got a coffee?? Who gives a damn about what shoes Angelina Jolie is wearing. Ok, they're nice shoes, but your life shouldnt revolve around them, as they do for some people believe it or not.
I admit, i sometimes read that little box of 'gossip' in the Metro when i take the bus, but i dont actually care about it. It's like reading the Metro itself. It's a stupid newspaper, but i read it when i have nothing better to do, when im bored. i dont think its INTERESTING. i dont think its IMPORTANT.

Palestine is important. Iraq is important. Afghanistan is important. What Iran or the US or the UK is doing is important. Politics, climate change, whats going on in the world is important. LOTS of things are important.

What Britney Spears is drinking is not.
If people concentrated more on the war crimes being commited around the world as much as they did on what colour Ashlee Simpson dyed her hair this week, we could change so much and possibly make the world a better place for so many people.

It's sad really.
